Three U.S. service members were killed and five seriously wounded during American military operations against Iran, marking the first American fatalities in the offensive that followed U.S.-Israeli strikes which killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
President Trump announced that the U.S. military had destroyed nine Iranian warships and intended to eliminate the rest of Iran's navy. These strikes are aimed at disabling Iran's capacity to close the Strait of Hormuz, a critical maritime choke point for global oil transport.
The U.S. and Israel launched coordinated military strikes against Iran, targeting ballistic missile sites and naval infrastructure, following the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. President Trump expressed openness to dialogue with Iran's new leadership amid escalating tensions.
