NASA has unveiled ambitious plans for the initial phase of a lunar base, awarding contracts to four U.S. companies to supply essential equipment ahead of the Artemis III crewed lunar landing projected for 2028.
NASA is set to provide an update on its Artemis program and plans for a permanent moon base on May 26 during a press conference at its Washington, D.C. headquarters.
Lunar Outpost, a Colorado-based space technology company, is advancing ambitious plans for lunar exploration and infrastructure, including the development of the Pegasus lunar rover.
NASA announced new contracts for lunar rovers for crew to drive and uncrewed cargo landers bound for the Moon, sharing target launch timeframes and upcoming milestones for the first Moon Base infrastructure and exploration missions to the lunar South Pole region ahead of Artemis astronaut landings.
